ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING IN 4D
BT has moved 3D printing and additive manufacturing (AM) into the fourth dimension by using proprietary methods to uniquely control the deposition of materials, including nano-materials on substrates in real-time. We call this “4D printing” as it allows us to additively manufacture [read: print] complex designs, materials, and circuits from the micro scale to the nano scale.
This interplay of material science, nanotechnology, microelectronics, electrospray techniques and AM give us the ability to deposit materials in novel ways on various types of surfaces on a nanometer scale.
FAST PROTOTYPING AND SMALL VOLUME MANUFACTURING
Our 4D printing technology creates products in order of magnitude faster than current fabrications. This allows BT to not only prototype new circuit designs rapidly — but also produce custom circuitry for niche use cases at low cost. Additionally, the reduced set up requirements between print runs allows for fast turnaround experimentation and innovation in circuit design and applications of micro and nanoelectronics.

THROWING OFF THE SHACKLES OF SILICON
Because our technology provides both hyper-accurate deposition and control of unique materials in an AM process, BT is able to make semiconductors without silicon, expensive fabrications, or toxic materials. All these capabilities will make both mobile and distributed printing more flexible, much quicker, and cheaper – from digital design to finished product.
BT believes that these capabilities will contribute significantly to repatriating much of the printed electronics industry that has been lost to foreign, and foreign-owned, foundries. The company’s technologies represent a radical innovation in both micro and nano scale 4D printing.
